What an amazing class - the past two days prove how different but amazing things can be. Weds. class session rocked. They tore into the stuff about perception and attribution. What's so cool is how much their insights and critical thinking challenges my ideas and adds to them. I am learning so much. Then today, Thursday, was a little more laid back, just a perception activity and talking about class structure and ways of doing things (such as tardy policy and facilitator). The perception activity went longer than I would have done it but then it was my planning, I should have realized better what it entailed. And I felt comfortable and trusting with this group to stay purposeful. They have a fantastic ability to draw connections and I believe that more came out of the time we spent that I might orginally guess. I also felt I should be loosing my control and give them and the facilitator a share of the responsibility of the direction and value of the course.
I need to pull together some thoughts for next week's classes and prep the upcoming test.

fun class today, got into some interesting discussions especially interdependence and around "owning the problem." this concept has been kicking around my head for awhile now and I wonder where I can get some resources about it. there is a chapter in Be Your Best about it but it doesn't go far enough.
However, 7 out of 13 students were there. ouch. Is it a monday or the fact a paper is due? or both or something else? two students emailed ahead of time to say they were sick which is nice (and progress). I hope this attendance picture doesn't get to be too much of an impact. we actually had a lively discussion, of all things, about tardies. funny how much we depend on other people.
